Mayor's Welcome.
Welcome to the City of Kenton website.
The City of Kenton is at the hub of five state routes, providing easy
access from almost anywhere. As the saying goes in Kenton, we're thirty
miles from everywhere. While surrounded and supported by agricultural
businesses, Kenton also has a diverse group of manufacturing businesses
with local, national and international influence. Kenton area businesses
produce : Steel ribbon for automotive and appliance manufacturers, trailer
axles for the trucking industry resins and molding compound as well
as precision tool-making for the plastics industry, some of the finest
all-steel buildings and pole buildings sold nationwide, and agricultural
products shipped around the world, as well as a large paper food service
company. The Kenton community has gone to great
lengths to prepare for our future. We have recently built a new wastewater
treatment facility, as well as made significant upgrades to our water
supply infrastructures. Kenton has also recently annexed over 500 acres
of undeveloped land to the city, offering many opportunities for the
community to grow and prosper. Within the City, properties are available
for manufacturing, retail sales, and residential development. Our safety services are second to none.
Kenton has 16 full-time police officers and 13 full-time firefighters.
Our fire department has a new, state-of-the-art 95 foot tower truck
to provide fire protection for our current and future large buildings.
The Kenton community has many parks and
recreation areas to enjoy within a few minutes of downtown, including
Bailey Park (a cooperative endeavor between the City, County YMCA, and
Hardin Memorial Hospital providing indoor and outdoor swimming pools,
basketball courts, a physical therapy center, and other recreational
opportunities), France Lake (a municipal camping and fishing park),
and five well-equipped neighborhood parks - including a brand new skateboard
park. We also have Hardin Memorial Hospital
located in the city as well as a beautiful 18 hole golf course located
at the edge of Kenton. We also have a Wal-Mart locating at the east edge of Kenton and is proposed to open in 2005. As Mayor, I welcome you to visit Kenton - or better yet - come to stay with us, and become a part of all the good things that make Kenton "a great place to call home". Mayor,Gary Ritzler |
