Karen Vanderwerf Office Hours: 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday. Chapter 850 of the Codified Ordinance of the City of Kenton took effect in November of 1960. It established a 1% income tax on earned income and business profits for anyone that works or lives in the city. In 1979, the tax rate was raised to 1.5% by popular vote. It has remained at that level since. The Tax Department web page endeavors to provide you with information and forms to help you file your Kenton City Income Tax correctly and in a timely fashion. If you do not find the information you need at this website, please feel free to contact this office at the address or phone number listed above. Notice: Effective as January 1, 2010, the City of Kenton deleted the income tax credit for out-of-town workers who live in the City of Kenton and pay income tax to another city or village. Prior to January 1, 2010, workers who lived in the City of Kenton and paid income tax to another city or village were allowed to take a credit (or reduction) from their tax liability owned to the City of Kenton for the taxes paid to the other cities or villages. On December 28, 2009, City Council passed an ordinance repealing this credit. As a result, for the 2010 tax year, residents will no longer be able to claim any credits for income tax paid to other cities or villages.
